These days, I live in Virginia with my husband Scott, daughter Cypress, and dog Sylvia Plath Weaver-Ford. I’m a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and honored to be first in my family to graduate from college and to have completed an M.F.A. at George Mason University.
These days, I live in Virginia with my husband Scott, daughter Cypress, and dog Sylvia Plath Weaver-Ford. I’m a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and honored to be first in my family to graduate from college and to have completed an M.F.A. at George Mason University.
I've been awarded a National Artist Fellowship in Literature by the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation, a Dobie Paisano Fellowship through the University of Texas and the Texas Institute of Letters, and an Elizabeth George Foundation Emerging Artist grant. In 2016, I served as Indigenous Artist-in-Residence at School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe. I’m currently putting the finishing touches on Crooked Hallelujah, a novel in stories about a mixed-blood Cherokee mother and daughter who move from Eastern Oklahoma’s Indian Country to North Texas to start life anew amidst the oil bust of the 1980s.
I have work published or forthcoming in Virginia Quarterly Review, Missouri Review, Forty Stories: New Writing from Harper Perennial, and New Delta Review, among other places. I'm pretty stoked to say that I'm represented by Adam Eaglin at Elyse Cheney Literary Associates.
