Fairly Amazing News

I suppose now is as good a time as any to tell you that we're going to Austin, in part, because I'll be a 2012-13 Dobie Paisano Fellow.  That's right.  We'll get to spend six months living at the ranch about fifteen miles outside of Austin that has been home to writing fellows for almost fifty years (Allen Wier among them, who kindly served on my MFA thesis committee, though he was miles away in Tennessee). The Graduate School at the University of Texas and the Texas Institute of Letters will generously fund my time there and give me time to really and truly finish my book. What news, and what a gift! It's happening, y'all.

Beep. Beep.

Congrats also go to Z.Z. Packer who will take over minding the ranch and writing the things in the spring/summer of 2013. I have a secret plan to become close pals with Z.Z. and will, of course, update you of my progress.
